How VA Education Benefits Payment Works:

Upon successful completion of the VA approved course, K&S submits the student's information to the VA for reimbursement. It will take the VA on average about one month to send the funds to the school. That exact amount (can be different for each Veteran) is what K&S sends back to the student in the form of a check. The VA will also let the student know when and how much the school received on their behalf.

Documents Required to Use VA Benefits​:

• Please send us a copy of your benefits information:​

1. Go to VA.gov and sign in.

2. Go to Education and training benefits / GI Bill®.

3. Open the student's education benefits information.

4. Look for “Print your benefits information” (the new replacement-style document for showing benefit information).

5. You can download or print that page/document and give it to the flight school.

• A valid FAA First Class Medical will be a requirement from the VA. A copy must be e-mailed to our administrative address before your first day of class. ​​

Calculating VA Flight Training Benefits:

​

The following information is provided to help students understand how their remaining GI Bill® entitlement may relate to the VA annual flight-training benefit cap. These calculations were provided to us by a VA representative and are intended as estimates for planning purposes only. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) determines the actual amount of benefits payable based on each veteran’s individual eligibility, remaining entitlement, program requirements, and applicable VA regulations.

Annual Flight-Training Cap

For the current academic year, the annual flight-training benefit cap is $17,661.89 for a veteran with 100% eligibility.

 

To estimate the value of one month of remaining entitlement:

$17,661.89 ÷ 12 months = $1,471.82 per month

 

Therefore, for a veteran at the 100% eligibility level, approximately $1,471.82 in VA flight-training benefits corresponds to one month of entitlement.

 

Example: Three Months of Remaining Entitlement

If a veteran has approximately 3 months of GI Bill® entitlement remaining, the estimated maximum benefit at the 100% eligibility level would be:

3 × $1,471.82 = $4,415.46

​

Estimated benefit amounts based on the veteran’s eligibility percentage are:

​

• 100% eligibility: approximately $4,415.46

• 90% eligibility: approximately $3,973.91

• 80% eligibility: approximately $3,532.37

• 70% eligibility: approximately $3,090.82

The actual amount paid by the VA may vary depending on the student’s individual circumstances and the VA’s determination of eligibility and entitlement.

Students should not rely on these estimates as a guarantee of payment. The VA makes the final determination regarding eligibility, remaining entitlement, allowable training costs, and the amount of benefits payable.

Students are encouraged to review their individual entitlement information with the VA and, when necessary, contact the VA directly for confirmation of their specific benefits.
