​TCCA ATP Conversion to FAA ATP

​Please refer to the FAA AC 61-135A for the proper guidance. The following information is a helpful guide only. 

​

Ensure you hold a valid and current TCCA ATP AMEL and medical certificate. Meet the age, medical, and rating requirements for a US ATP at the time of conversion. 

​

Before meeting with the Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) to finalize your conversion, you will need to complete the following steps.

 

1. Obtain a Foreign License Verification Letter for your TCAA ATP: Fill out the Form FAA 8060-71: Submit it to the mailing address on the form. We recommend this as your first step as it may take up to 6 months to receive your Letter depending on TCCA's response time.

2. Complete the ATP CTP course and receive your ATP CTP Graduation Certificate.

 

• At K & S Aviation, you will receive a physical copy of ATP CTP Graduation Certificate from your simulator instructor at completion of your last simulator session. This certificate does not expire.

 

• You can take the FAA ATP Airplane Multi-Engine Airplane Canadian Conversion (ACM) written exam when you are ready. You will need to present your ATP CTP Graduation Certificate at the testing center.

 

Note: You do NOT need a foreign license verification letter, nor a medical certificate, to participate in the ATP CTP course.

 

3. Complete the ATP Pilot Multi-Engine Airplane Canadian Conversion (ACM) written exam.

 

• You can find a local FAA approved testing center by visiting the FAA website: PSI Exams. Please note that we do not schedule/pay for this exam.

 

• We have a discounted rate with Sheppard Air for study prep material. We will provide more details upon enrollment in the ATP CTP course.

4. Obtain a FAA Medical certificate as per AC 61-135A from an accredited FAA Aviation Medical Examiner. You can complete this step at any time before your appointment for the conversion with the FAA.

5. Once you have passed your test, you have your verification letter and medical certificate, schedule an appointment with the local Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) to finalize the conversion. Additional paperwork may be required. You can schedule an appointment with an FAA-authorized examiner.
