Specialized Training Details

Listed here are the specific prerequisites and details for each of the classes.

PIC Proficiency Check (Curriculum S-1)

Prerequisites:

  • COMMERCIAL PILOT
  • B-737 Type Rating

Training/Checking:

    One day aircraft systems review (8 hours).  Two (2) hours minimum of level C/D simulator training. Train to proficiency. Checkride (2 hours) and demonstrate proficiency in all maneuvers and procedures required by the Practical Test Standards in a level C/D full flight simulator utilizing the pilots own checklist and manual procedures.

 

Currency (Curriculum S-2)

Prerequisites:

  • COMMERCIAL PILOT
  • B-737 Type Rating

Training:

     Minimum 2 hour of level C/D simulator training. Train to proficiency and demonstrate proficiency in three takeoffs and three landings required by FAR 61.57(a)(1) for PIC and 61.55(b)(2) for SIC in a level C/D full flight simulator utilizing the night visual system and the pilot's checklist and manual procedures.

 
Removal of Centerline Thrust (Curriculum S-6)

Prerequisites:

  • Private or Commercial Pilot Certificate with an Airplane Multiengine Land Rating or an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate
  • Centerline thrust limitation on pilot certificate. The Centerline Thrust limitation is issued to applicants who complete the practical test for the AMEL rating in an aircraft that does NOT have a manufacturer's published minimum control speed with the critical engine inoperative (VMC)

Training:

     Ground school and simulator training is required in an aircraft without a centerline thrust limitation. All B-737 Type Rating Programs apply.

 
High Altitude Training (Curriculum S-7)

Prerequisites:

  • Private or Commercial Pilot Certificate with an Airplane Multiengine Land Rating or an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate
  • PIC not qualified for pressurized flight above 25,000 feet MSL

Training:

     Minimum 3 hours ground school and 1 hour in an appropriate simulator/FTD. Train to proficiency and demonstrate proficiency in all maneuvers and procedures required in 61.31(g).

 
High Altitude Endorsement (Curriculum S-8)

Prerequisites:

  • At least a Private Pilot Certificate and Pilot Logbook
  • Additional requirements as required by law must be met. (e.g. Non-US citizens must comply with applicable Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requirements.)

Training:

     Minimum 2 hours ground school and 1 hour simulator or FTD training (normally Level C B-737). Train to complete requirements to authorize high altitude endorsement including all maneuvers and procedures required by 61.31(g) and Advisory Circular 61.107A in an appropriate flight simulator.

 
Runway Safety Training (Curriculum S-10)

Prerequisites:

  • Student Pilot or higher

Training:

     Minimum 30 minutes ground training. The ground training may be supplemented with simulator or FTD training.

 
SIC Proficiency Check (Curriculum S-11)

Prerequisites:

  • Hold at least a current Private Pilot Certificate (AMEL)
  • Instrument Rating
  • Note: A commercial pilot or ATP, AMEL is not required to meet the SIC training requirements if the pilot is conducting a ferry or test flight, or an evaluation flight of an aircraft's equipment, and is carrying only necessary people or property.
  • One takeofff and one landing on the actual airplane is required if the pilot did not perform a First Officer proficiency check for a Part 121 operator, or a competency check for part 991k, 125 or 135 operator.

Training:

     Train to proficiency and demonstrate proficiency in all maneuvers and procedures required by FAR 61.55 in a level C/D full flight simulator using the pilot's own checklist and manual procedures. 61.55 SIC Qualifications are required within the previous 12 plus or minus one calendar month.

 
Airplane Multi-Engine Land (Curriculum S-12)

Prerequisites:

  • Commercial Pilot
  • Airplane Single Engine Land Rating
  • Instrument Rating

Training:

     Minimum 2 hours of level C/D simulator training. Train to proficiency and demonstrate proficiency in all maneuvers and procedures required in the Practical Test Standards in a level C/D full flight simulator. Ground training may be accomplished during simulator training briefings.

 
Circling Approach (VMC Only Limitation Training) (Curriculum S-13)

Prerequisites:

  • Private Pilot, Commercial Pilot or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate
  • CIRC. APCH. - VMC Only limitation on pilot certificate. This limitation is issued to applicants who complete the practical test for an operator with an Operations Specifications that prohibit circling approaches below VMC weather conditions and MDA 1000 feet (minimum) above the airport elevation.

Training:

     Ground and simulator training is required on circling approaches to a landing and a missed approach.

 
PIC ICAO Limitation Removal (Curriculum S-14)

Prerequisites:

  • Airline Transport Pilot, Airplane Multiengine Land
  • B-737 Type Rating
  • PIC-ICAO limitation on pilot certificate (FAR 61.157(g)(5) or (8): This certificate is subject to pilot-in-command limitations for the additional type rating)
  • For simulator only training, meet one of the following (FAR 61.157(g)(3)): 2000 hours total time including 500 hours of multiengine turbine time; 500 hours B-737 time; or 1000 hours in 2 or more airplanes requiring a type rating.

Training:

     Training and checking must be met to B-737 type rating standards. Minimum 8 hours review ground school. Minimum 2 hours of level C/D simulator training. Train to proficiency and demonstrate proficiency in all maneuvers and procedures required in the Practical Test Standards in a level C/D full flight simulator. The pilot's own checklist and manual procedures may be used.
